My name is Lisa and I am currently 42 years old. At the age of 4o I found out that I was pregnant for the second time with thoughts of this pregnancy being my last one. In the state of California my doctor told me that I had to take a class for permenant contraception with a 3 day waiting period after said class. On December 22,2014 I took the class and went into premature labor receiving a c-section on December 24th. I was told I could not get the Essure procedure done during delivery because I missed the mark by one day and I will be reschedule on an outpatient basis. I was told that it was a seamless procedure, it would be done in about an hour, quick recovery and they would not have to reopen me up again.
Three months after I had my c-section, I had the Essure procedure done and it was not seamless nor was it done in about an hour (3 hours). The doctor stated that she could not find my left Fallopian tube and ended the procedure by saying I think it’s in there. I did not feel secure especially coming from a doctor who stated she has done the procedure a hundred times. I left the office bleeding and I could not return back to work right away as I was told.
Six months after giving birth to my daughter and 3 months after receiving the Essure procedure, my hair began coming out in clumps. Everyone kept telling me that it was natural. It happens to women after giving birth until I woke one morning to this immense pain that I have never experienced before. I hard started my period and was throwing up perfusely. I begged my daughter to take me to the ER at this point, I crawled into th ER. Once I was triaged and sedated due to the pain, I was told it was my appendix. What? At age 41! No one in my family ever had appendix issues. I took my diagnosis with a grain of salt but when I first experienced that pain, my instinct was Essure And it still is. Once I had my appendix removed I continued to experience heavy pain and bleeding yes bleeding For 3 weeks straight and the doctors could not explain it. I even asked could it be the Essure and they told me NO.
My hair fell completely out to my scalp. It was so bad my hair dresser for over 20 years told me do not come back to the salon because it was noting she could do because there was no hair. I began wearing wigs for months. I stopped taking pictures because I was so embarrassed. Now I am still experiencing heavy cramps as I did before getting my appendix removed but I take pain relievers which I never had to do before the Essure.
