After discussing birth control options with my doctor, I decided to have the essure procedure in June 2012. My doctor assured me it was safe, could be done in the office, and was minimal evasive. The first coil was put in my left fallopian tube using the guide of a camera. Then the doctor put the coil in my right fallopian tube and even though I was on medication to relax me, it hurt immediately. The doctor moved the coil down a little but the pain was still there. She stated the pain/discomfort will subside. I left the office and nothing would make the pain go away. I called the doctor back and she assured me all was fine and it would take some time. So after a couple of weeks she sent me for an xray. The xray showed the essure on the right side was not curved like it was supposed to be but instead was straight. She informed me we would need to remove it because my fallopian tube could be damaged or have a hole.
I went to surgery to have the essure removed and get a tubal ligation. The doctor informed me the manufacturer was at the hospital to look at the coils after they were removed. The doctor assured me everything was fine with the device and I would be fine. I have very painful periods now especially severe pain on the right side. It has been over a year. I am hoping this will go away with time. While I was done having children and am fine with my tubal ligation. If I would have known about the serious dangers of essure, I never would have done that.
Please do not get this device. I needs to be taken off the market as an option.

In addition to my story I forgot to mention. My doctor had to remove part or all of my fallopian tube on the right side because of essure
