Hello my name is DeAnna and I am 24 years old. I had the Essure procedure done at twenty years of age. I just had my daughter about a year earlier and was getting the IUD taken out due to pain and heavy bleeding. I saw a commercial about the Essure, I was young didn’t think I wanted more children and neither did my long term boyfriend. I decided to see the Doctor that performed the procedure, he asked me if I was sure and gave me hormone pills to take for a few weeks until the procedure. When it came time they said it was only a fifteen to thirty minute procedure, well that’s where the nightmare began.
My left ovary started to spasm on multiple attempts to place the coil (the right went in fine). It was horribly painful and I only was given numbing cream. After a long period my ovary shutdown and I couldn’t take any more. The doctor stopped and said I had two options, try again in a week with Essure or get a tubal ligation around the left coil and tie off the right. I had the tubal and after healing I continued to get ovary pain on my left side and bloating. I suffered with migraines and heavy long periods. I finally found a doctor to do a Hysterectomy (remove coil) leaving my ovaries intact. At the age of about twenty two I had the Hysterectomy done. After this it has been an emotional roller coaster not only for me but my husband and daughter. I have days of hot flushes, aches and pains. I have bouts of depression when other people tell me they are having a baby, instead of being happy. I want to be back to normal, I just wish I never had this product placed in my body. Thank you!
