I got the Essure coils on March 1, 2007. About a month after the procedure, I developed massive pains in my abdomen. I called the physician who implanted the coils and he believed they could have punctured something but I would have to pay for the appointment up front for $900. I was told Essure was the only form of permanent birth control medicaid would cover. I could not afford it. I hit a very rough financial spot.
My pain would be so severe I would end up on the hospital up to approximately 2-3 times a year because of the Essure coils. Needless to say my credit is horrid now because of the medical bills, and every hospital I went to has never heard of Essures. The last time I went to the hospital, they had me lying on the bed and the doctor could feel my ovary on the most painful side.
Recently I have found out that I have a nickle allergy. I have migraines to the point of vomiting. I started reading other women’s symptoms and started putting stuff together. I thought maybe I was getting old before my time. I am 29 now. I have joint pains, migraines, and tiredness. I never linked these symptoms to the Essure but it makes sense now. I wish I never got them. Now I can’t afford to remove them. I feel betrayed. I have no control over my body. I feel like I was taken advantage of. It’s so hard to explain.
