I cannot remember if it was late 2008 or early 2009 – But that is when my Essure journey began. Before getting the procedure done in the Doctors office we realized I wasn’t on any method of birth control so at last minute I got a depo shot. It was painful but I got through it. Not the shot – the procedure. Early on I had alot of pain. I also had alot of bleeding. I called the doctors office about it. They said it wasn’t the coils. I was fine. I bleed and bleed. My son jumped on my side and I had such stabbing pain. They said the coil wouldn’t move and ultrasounded it and I was okay. The I had one coil not all the way in my fallopian tube. He deployed it and most of it was in and some of it was outside and he said that was okay. After 8 months of bleeding – I am hopeful for a normal life. But I continued to have pain. Pelvic congestion (lol whatever that is was on C.T.) I bleed a little with sex (my doc said hubby was bruising the cervix – go honey) I had so many visits b/c I thought I had an infection because I felt very achy in my pelvic region. I even had him test me for every STD even though we been happily married for over 10 years. Something had to be causing my discomfort. Thought I had a bunch of UTI’s and nothing would be positive. I thought my gyno must think I liked visiting him. Because nothing was ever wrong with me – yet I felt awful down below. Not all the time. Symptoms would come and go. So I held on to the good times. And our visits became ‘yes I’m still having that mystery pain – it’s weird’ but not nothing more said. One time he said it was b/c of position during certain time of my cycle b/c our uterus changes positions or something like that… Fast forward to 2014 – My period became irregular over this past year. I’m 44 so I’d expect that. But the pain in my back. The pressure and my periods were getting closer and closer together and lasted more than a week and has quickly gotten very uncomfortable. I finally go back and tell him I need either low dose of hormones or something done I cannot be a good mom and wife bleeding and in pain every two weeks. So they look by ultrasound and my coil is mostly out of my fallopian tube and appears to have fibrious tissue all around it which is normal. But what if my body is trying to get it out and that’s triggering my periods. That was my first thought when I saw my ultrasound. He didn’t talk much about essure at all. Said I was a good candidate for hysterectomy and not such a good candidate for the other procedures.. Now I understand why. He must know essure has these complaints. I’ve been complaining to them for years. Yet essure has never come up. I hope we can get them removed if it’s hurting alot of women. I was surprised at the number of complaints like mine.
