I am a 29 year old mother of 3 and both myself and my children’s father come from large families so when I got pregnant the first two times on birth control (shot and pill) and was told I am better off without using a contraceptive and then getting pregnant AGAIN, I opted for a permanent fix. I chose the Essure procedure because it was the least invasive and so went in shortly after the 6 week post partum checkup. The procedure went smoothly and there was little to no recovery time. Went in for 3 month check up and everything was perfect!
Think again! About 6 months or so after the procedure was completed I started noticing my ovulation cycle was uncomfortable and got worse each month. In discussing it with my OB I was told it was ‘probably an ovarian cyst’ and to ‘alternate between Tylenol and Advil for the pain’. It has been four years since the procedure and for about 12 hours every month I deal with sever bloating (I go from loose fitting almost falling off jeans to them being so tight it’s uncomfortable) and stabbing wrenching abdominal pain that at times is so sever it’s all I can do to not curl up in bed until it’s over.
I have not chosen to go into further financial strain trying to fix this as I am a divorced mom and cannot afford to look into how to relieve the pain.
I am hoping a resolution at least comes out of this as I truly do not wish to endure this pain and frustration for another four years!
