My name is Jessica I am 27 years old I want to share my story with women that is considering the Essure implant as a permanent form of birth control. My husband and I decided after our 1st child was 3 we did not want to have any more children we were happy, so we bought a small comfortable 2 bedroom home in a small community. I talked to a doctor about getting my tubes tide and after having to wait, sign paperwork and more waiting we made the appointment to talk about our options either to have a major operation or a non-surgical tubal ligation procedure . He assured me that this was permanent and would work so we schedule the appointment and waited to get it done. Then it was the day to have it done and everything went as planned and I had them implanted. We then we waited the 3 months and went back to have the dye test to make sure it worked, with wonderful and exciting news the doctor congratulated us (I even watched them shoot the dye) on success of not having any more children my fallopian tubes were closed off. So after hearing that I never thought about using any more birth control or condoms with my husband of already 4 years. So a year goes by since the procedure and I missed a period not thinking anything I didn’t worry about because I couldn’t have any more children but then I started to notice that every time I would eat I would get sick or the smell of food made me sick, my breasts hurt, so I broke down and went to the store and bought a pregnancy test (thinking it was a waste of money) but sure enough I was pregnant. I called the doctor and I had to go for an ultrasound immediately due to the fetus possible being in one of my tubes, but sure enough he was in my womb and I was about 6 weeks pregnant they said everything looked good at this point. My first doctors appointment the doctor could not believe it and didn’t say a word to me for about 20 mins he just looked over his notes and the photos and still couldn’t believe I got pregnant over a year later. We now have a happy healthy baby boy that I thank god for every day because now our first child wont be alone growing up. So if you are considering a form of permanent sterilization I would not recommend this procedure. I now suffer from massive headaches, extreme cramps (that I never had before with my period) and excessive bleeding the first 4 days of my period.
Would not recommend it too! I’ve had the essure for over 5 yes now. I have had sever pelvic pain for over 2 years now. Every time I have seen my OBG she says she “thinks” I have endometriosis.
