I am a mother of five wonderful children. In 2009 I was talked into having Essure versus a tubal. My doctor at the time said that they would only put rubber bands on my tubes. I did not feel that would be enough to prevent pregnancy. They then mentioned Essure in all its amazing glory. I took the pamlet home and talked with my husband about it. We were both concerened that it was a fairly new procedure. We looked and looked for any adverse effects and none were to be found. I was asked if I had a nickel allergy, to which I responded that I could not wear nickel jewlery and I believed I did. The doctor said there wasn’t enough nickel in the coils to cause a problem. A week after the procedure the pain in my pelvic area was becoming more and more dibilitating. The doctor said that is was not Essure causeing the problem and that the pain was all in my head. Over the next five years the pain became a constant issue that I just had to live with. Then came the night sweats, hot flashes, extreme bloating, menstral cramps that we so dibilitating I could not get out of my bed the first two days of my cycle and blood clots. The last straw was the pain during intercourse with my husband. Finally this year at the age of 33 I had a total hysterectomy and for the first time in 5 years I am pain free. This product took away so much from me. I felt mislead by doctors and flat out lied to by the company that made it.
