I decided in 2007 to get the Essure procedure done after my second child. My normal ob/gyn did the procedure and assured me it was perfectly fine.Once the surgery was done and I came to my doctor explained to me she had complications with the coils being defective and not properly expanding upon insertion. Therefore she had to insert more than 1 inside each tube to make sure they would perform properly. Being my ob/gyn for several years i trusted her medical expertise. Shortly after the procedure i would continue to have pains in my pelvic area mainly where my leg muscles connect to my hips. During a doctors visit I complained to my ob/gyn about the pains and she simply said she doesnt know whats causing the pains but its definately not due to the Essure procedure. I told her how i never had the pains prior to her doing my surgery but still considered the
Fact that my body was possibly adjusting to the implants. The pains continued to progress to the point of not being able to walk sometimes. After speaking with another woman who had the same Essure procedure done she asked me what happened at my follow up appointment to have the dye test done. I was shocked it had been at least 5 years and my ob/gyn never mentioned this test! I pressed the issue of having my tubes checked especially since she had told me some of the product was defective and she finally agreed. The test proved i had 2 coils in my left tube and 3 coils in my right tube and i was sterile. I have always questioned this procedure and now for 2days i have been unable to walk feeling as if my hip joint is being literally forced away from my body. I have a new ob/gyn I am seeing for the first time tomorrow and will hopefully help me get to the bottom of this. I feel like my first ob/gyn lied and decieved me as well as discredited me and did not take into account that my procedure was not successful but is unwillingly to admit medical malpractice. Hopefully I am safe please pray for me and any woman considering this form of birth control be aware. Maranda
Maranda I was shocked to read your doctor inserted multiple coils! I hope you are doing better. No doctor will admit they messed up, but you should consult a lawyer. I have been having my own issues with Essure, but cannot image what you are going through. Prayers for you.
