I received the Essure procedure in 2008 after my 5th child was born. Since my insurance would not approve the procedure being done in the doctor’s office I had to undergo anesthesia. My 30 minute procedure turned into hours of them trying to wake me up. The procedure started at 7:30 am, I remember around 1pm that I started screaming because I could not breathe. I then woke up around 430 pm with doctors telling me I had a traumatic experience with my body and folly put in place as well. I was then discharged around 7pm that evening. After the 3 month waiting period, I went to my doctor’s office and was told despite the experience everything went well and I am completely blocked. Well about a year later I found out I was pregnant and had a horrible miscarriage at around 5 months of being pregnant. I have since had extremely heavy bleeding every month, to the point where I cannot go anywhere because I can fill a pad within minutes as if blood is running out of me like a water faucet being turned on. I am unable to wear tampons at all, they won’t even stay. I have the worst cramps and constant headaches; I have never had either prior to the procedure. I started researching the site when my doctor took x rays of my back and ask about the metal inside of me (July 2014) I asked to see the x-rays and low and behold on one side the coil is wavy and high up in my body on the other side the coil is straight and broken. This has been a hassle for years now and I was NEVER warned of the side effects and told that this was a very easy procedure and I could go on with my everyday life, it has now been 6 years and my life has drastically changed because of this procedure.
