My 2nd child was born March 29, 2007. The pregnancy was very normal, and I gained a minimal amount (30 pounds). Once the baby was born, I lost all but 10 pounds right away. Shortly thereafter I decided on the Essure procedure since I knew that I did not want anymore children. Since the Essure procedure I have had extreme weight gain, extreme mood swings, difficulty with concentration/memory, joint pain, and chronic fatigue. Basically, I knew there was problem about 3 months after the procedure when I was depressed, tired, and gaining weight very rapidly despite the fact that I was breast feeding. I tried to discuss it with the doctor but they dismissed my concerns. I’ve tried diets and exercise but the weight will not budge and I’m always hungry. I’ve tried numerous doctors including 2 endocrinologists (the first endocrinologist said I was eating too much, the second endocrinologist awknowledged my concerns but said sometimes people are ‘not the same’ after a pregnancy and ‘sometimes surgery is the only answer for weight loss’). I would just like to feel like a normal person again; although I had hoped to do that without the aid of surgery I’ve come to the conclusion that the coils just need to be removed.
