About two years ago I decided to have the Essure procedure done. My doctor was very positive about it and initially things went ‘normally’. However, it wasn’t long before I began experiencing extreme pain in my lower right abdomen during the first two days of my period. I decided to return to my doctor to discuss this and even brought up the fact that when I looked at the follow up X-rays, the coil in my right Fallopian tube didn’t look normal or like the other one. She was unconcerned, assured me that everything was fine, and that ‘most women do experience pain during their periods’. I tried to inform her that the pain I was experiencing was not menstrual cramping, however she maintained her dismissive attitude and told me there is nothing you can do once they’re in anyway.
Basically I’ve spent the last two years in agonizing pain during the first two days of my periods, which became extremely heavy after the procedure. I have a very high pain tolerance and am not exaggerating how much this hurts. Ibuprofin and other over the counter pain killers do not even begin to dull the pain and, needless to say, I’m fairly useless when I’m hurting so much. I really do not know what to do at this point. I have moved to a new town an am trying to find a doctor who can help me, but do not even know where to start. It’s not like their office signs say, ‘screwed up by Essure? We can help!’. Any advice would be MUCH appreciated.
