I was implanted with a medical device implant called Essure on 10/30/2009. The onset of my complaint started on 12/2009. At the time of my procedure, I went in and was only given a small pamphlet with very little information as to the side effects other than possible pregnancy. When the doctor started the procedure, he explained what he was going to do. During the implantation of the left coil, he advised me that the coil broke and that ‘this was normal’ but that he was unable to locate the broken piece because of the fluid that was flushing through. I asked at that point if I needed to worry about any additional side effects and he advised me not to worry. When I went back three months later, I asked again if he could see the broken part of the coil on the x-ray and he said no and there should be no additional side effects due to the breaking of the coil. Since that time, I have developed terrible headaches that I experience every day. I wake up with them and even go to bed with them as well. I have debilitating cramps that feel like someone is ripping my insides out. I have severe bleeding and golf ball sized clots that pass when I menstruate. I have memory loss, back pain, and have severe pain when having intercourse with my husband. We have been together for over 10 years and never had a problem until after I had the coils put in. We have only been married for 2 years and he is talking about divorce because I am unable to have sex without severe pain and bleeding. The mood swings are terrible. I can go from crying over a commercial about cookies to screaming at someone. I am always tired and sometimes it is hard to get out of bed and do anything. I feel like I am doing a huge disservice to my family as I just have a hard time enjoying things. I am going to see a doctor after the first of the year to hopefully have these coils removed!
