After my fourth child, and due to my increased age(41), I decided to get a sterilization procedure. I inquired with my ob/gyn and she suggested the new essure device. a simple out -patient procedure with little to no down time. She explained how the device worked and the effectiveness. Of course it’s FDA approved so few serious side effects. The procedure went well. No major problems in the first 60 days, normal soreness and bleeding. With in three months I should have been healed with little side effects lingering.
Here’s where the trouble starts. Pelvic pain! The only way to describe what I was feeling is that I thought my insides were falling out. I had trouble walking, sporadic bleeding, when I did feel like having sex , it was painful and uncomfortable. My Ob/gyn did an untrasound. Everything is healthy and normal…she suggested that I was approaching menopausal age, as women age their periods become worse( more bleeding, more painful). Some of the symptoms subsided for intermintent periods of time. Then they return, the most annoying of which having more than one period a month. very debilitating. I have put up with this for over 4 years, I am returning to my ob/gyn again after 4 periods in 50 days to discuss removal of this device. Not only is it physically difficult but mentally as well. I will keep everyone posted about my visit and the outcome…
