I had the Essure Procedure done in December 2012 when I was 36. The reason why I choose to have this procedure was because I was done having children and my doctor highly recommened this procedure over anything else. He assured me this was the best invention he’s seen in almost 20 years. Prior to this procedure, I was using the Mireana for 5 years. I had no complications from that and thought about having it again but since I didn’t want to take any chances of getting pregnant, my husband and I chose the Essure Prodecure.
The procedure itself wasn’t too bad. I did get quite naushish and needed to take take a few breaks but other than that, it was bearable. At the time of the procedure, I was also given the Deprovera shot in which I was told was needed and that I would go without a period for 3 months. I was fine with that – :). I went back in March for the testing to make sure the coils were secure and the tubes were shut and they were. My problems began shortly before this test. I began having debilitating headaches/migraines where I would have to miss work. I had severe cramping and heavy periods every two weeks. I went in for a visit with my GYN and he advised me that the reason why I was experiencing all these things was because I was suffering what I normally would under normal period circumstances as if I had never had the Essure done in the first place. Well, I can assure you that I NEVER had periods like this and I NEVER had them every 2 weeks and the headaches are so bad that I can’t even open my eyes and I have to take off work. I get nauseated and everything.
So, now I’m still working with my doctor to try to get myself back to ‘normal’, even though at this point, I don’t know what that is. All I know is I’m sick and tired of the pain (cramping) and the headaches. My GYN went as far as to put me on a low dosage birth control pill to help with everything and even that isn’t working!
This procedure has drastically affected my life and my families lives. My closeness with my husband has been affected. My work has been affected. My children have been affected. All these ‘side effects’ have taken away precious time from me and my family. My youngest doesn’t understand why mommy stays in bed so much. Between the cramping, bleeding and headaches, I am in the bathroom and my bed for days at a time. I get so weak. I’ve never experienced anything like this before I have the Essure Procedure. I am convinced this procedure has caused all my problems.
I only pray that there will be a good fix for all these things without having to go thru major surgery.
