I had Essure implants put in 5 years ago. A friend had them done and told me they were a good alternative to tubal ligation. I already had twin girls and was using a Mirena IUD-but decided to do a more permanent treatment. When I had the procedure done one implant went in easily, the other one took quite a while and the doctor told me it was hard to place due to a fibroid in my uterus. I went home and recovered with not much trauma. When I went to get my test to confirm my tubes were blocked I was told by my Gyn. that the procedure was effective and both tubes were blocked. I had some pain and bleeding so went to my family doctor who reviewed the radiology report and told me one of my Essure springs was not in the tube. The doctor who did the test did the test did it wrong. I had to go back for another scan then I was told that infact one of my tubes was open and they didn’t see the spring. I was told it probably ‘fell out’. I was offered to go back and have another one put in-but decided I’d had enough. I ended up having to get another IUD. As the years went by I started having allergies, rashes, facial swelling, hair loss, chronic fatigue. I was then diagnosed with Hashimotos thyroiditis. I had never in my life had allergies but after several bouts of lip and eye swelling and several visits to urgent care for Epi injections I went to an allergist and discovered I was highly allergic to cats (I’ve had cats all my life), dust mites and pure gold. Since this time my health has continued to decline. I now have muscle weakness, partial heart failure, high blood pressure, diabetes, elevated liver function and chronic bowel issues. I have lost 20 pounds in 3 months and am now going in to get an ultrasound and tests for cancer. The doctors are telling me I have an autoimmune disease-that may be causing all these problems. I also have sharp pains in my left lower quadrant and back. I have seen so many doctors and still have no answers. I wish I had never had the ESSURE procedure done. I am now waitng to see if I have cancer or some other Autoimmune disorder.
