I am a 42 year old active healthy female with no medical history prior to having Essure Coils placed. I had Essure Coils placed May 2014. First the only thing I was told that Essure Coils may cause my menstrual cycle to be a little heavier. I was told nothing of nickel allergies or other possible problems it could cause. After having the Essure Coils placed, I had heavy bleeding for over a month. Soaking through 3 pads in an hour. I repeatedly called OB/Gyn and was told it was normal. My heart rate after two weeks was around 115-120 and my BP was 80/50. Ob/Gyn finally saw me after two weeks and my hemoglobin had dropped to 10.9 and she said I needed anxiety medication. The bleeding continued to get heavier and heavier. I called over and over with my symptoms. Finally went to ER and my hemoglobin was 5.9. I was SOB, legs swollen, and head felt like it was going to explode. I finally stopped bleeding and got my hemoglobin back to normal but I have not felt the same since having the Essure Coils placed. I have constant pelvic and lower back pain. My stomach looks twice its size ( I have always had flat stomach). I have gained 20 lbs in the first two months of having the Essure coils placed. I have fatigue and constant generalized muscle pain with knots/cysts all of sudden down arms, back, and legs. I have been told that I need to have hysterectomy which is the last thing I want to do considering my experience. I wish I had NEVER had these placed and I would have never if I had been told of possible side effects.
