I had the essure coils done in July of 2011. The first month I was fine and was told my cycle may or may not start. The month of September 2011 is when my pain cycle began and lasted over a year.
September of 2011 I had my first cycle and felt as if I was having a miscarriage. The cramping was so intense that I had to take a muscle relaxant to help and even that didn’t work. For over a year I was in pain and constantly cramping.
In September of 2012, I finally had enough and had to go head to head with the military hospital to have the coils removed. On October 2, 2012 I had surgery to remove the coils. To my surprise and the doctors, the coil on my right side had actually perforated through my uterus and embedded its self to the fatty tissue of my colon and caused severe scaring on my uterus.
I have been pain free for over 2 weeks now and I am possibly slated for another surgery to re-implant my fallopian tubes.
I was never made aware that the coils could do this to a person. All the research that I had done on the Essure Coils never mentioned perforation of the uterus as a risk factor. If I was made aware of this fact, I would of never consented to having this procedure ever. I believe that the Essure coils need to be pulled off the market as it has more con’s than pro’s, and this risk factor isn’t worth us women going through the procedure, as it causes more damage than ever imaginable.
