Amber’s Story

I had just had my last son on May 22nd of 2007 and decided after my 6 wks of recovering i had essure put in at my local hospital by my OB Dr.  First i experienced cramping and spotting all the time. My cycle was always normal before i had this done. For the next yr i was spot about 15-20 each month after my period. The cramping was there the entire time i had essure in. At the end of 2012 i started spotting alot n had extreme pain in my lower stomach. Ended up in the local Er same hospital they were put in at. After having some ultra sounds done they had found a cyst. I went

Jayme’s Story

My essure nightmare started after having my 3rd child in 2005.  I remember being in the hospital and having a doctor from my ob gyn’s office recommend the procedure to me instead of tubal ligation, so I could avoid the recovery and invasiveness. I had known I wanted to have my ‘tubes tied’ before I was even pregnant with our third child. My husband and I had always wanted 3 kids and having the procedure that was easier seemed to make sense to a busy mom. After the procedure is when the easy way turned into a long and grueling few years. I noticed after essure,my menstrual cycles were longer, heavier bleeding ( and by heavy I mean doubling two

Veronica’s Story

I had the essure procedure done in Feb of 2011. It’s not worth it. I was looking forward to losing weight after my third child. Unfortunately I can no longer make a sit up because the pain is unbearable. I’ve only gained weight and whats worse is I can no longer sleep on my stomuck because of the sharp pain. It’s horrible. It needs to be taken off the market immediately.

Gaylene’s Story

After many years of not getting pregnant, I was surprised at age 35 when I found out I was expecting. My pregnancy was horrible and I was sick from the very beginning. From bleeding to kidney stones to blood & protein in my urine, being pregnant was miserable as I spent many nights in the ER or doctors office. Nearing the end of 27 weeks, I was place in the hospital to be monitored for a few days because I was swelling terribly and my BP was in the 200?s. Going from preeclamptic to eclamptic in a few hours, I was rushed into an emergency c-section 3 days later to give birth to a 2 lb baby boy at 28

Tabitha’s Story

Last year I told my healthcare provider I wanted a tubal. The nurse at the clinic I was going to told me about Essure. She explained how it was done. After much thought I decided to do it. I wish I hadn’t. With no preparation they had me laying back as if I were about to have a pelvic exam. They gave me 5 shots of a numbing agent in my cervix then another 5 or 6 in my uterus. That had to be the worse pain I have ever felt. The resident (who was doing the procedure under the watch of a doctor) never gave me a warning, never gave me time to recoop or anything. They started the

Chrisanne’s Story

Thanks to everyone for helping to feel I am not alone. My GYN told me about the implants two years ago. He said it would be great to decrease menstrual symptoms, non hormonal, quick and relatively easy procedure in office. I was told to take two motrin before the procedure and I would be d be ‘just fine’. It took over 60 minutes for this procedure to be complete. My doctor cranked these coils as if it were a medieval torture device. There are no words to describe the pain of this procedure. I had no form of anesthesia while my doctor was ‘making scar tissue’.  I was never the same. I’ve had pelvic swelling, daily bleeding, cramping and the

Danielle’s Story

I had the Essure procedure done on June 29, 2012.  Since then, I can feel pain when I sneeze or cough, my periods are longer and heavier than normal, as well as all over the place (occasionally every three weeks, then every four, etc), and what scares me most; upon my last two ultrasounds, the stents could not be located.  I am 36 with two beautiful children and an on-going history of problems.  I had the Essure done as a means to lessen periods and prevent pregnancy.  Now I find myself in more frequent discomfort/pain and wishing I could have a complete hysterectomy done!  The whole idea behind this was to prevent the removal of hormones at a ‘young’ age

Terra’s Story

I had the Essure birth control put in because I was done having children and found the pill had been in affective in the past. At the same time, I elected to have the ablation procedure done. Not only did the cramping from periods continue, which my doctor told me would decrease, they got worse as did my periods themselves. My moods changed. Around the same time that I had the Essure put in, I started to experience migraines on a frequent basis that I never had before. I tried to tell my neurologist and gynecologist that I thought that it had something to do with the Essure and was told that they didn’t believe that to be the case.
